Using a Sky box and dish for Freesat

Question

I have an old Sky+ box and Sky dish. Can I use this to connect to Freesat?

Our Answer

An old Sky box should let you watch around 200 channels known as the free-to-air channels – These are available without a subscription. You can find a list of the channels here: Free-to-Air Channels

If all you want is to watch the free channels, then you don’t need to subscribe. The channels are on the same satellite as the Sky channels, so no need to move your old Sky dish.

Note that the Sky+ recording service won’t work without a subscription from Sky, so the box can only be used for viewing. Sky+ features like recording, live pause, and series link require a subscription from Sky.
