I can get all the Freeview channels on my TV without a problem, but I can only get a small number of digital channels on my digital hard drive recorder, and I cannot record my favourite channel. Why is this?

If your TV is able to get all of the Freeview channels, but another Freeview box/tv/recorder can’t get all the channels, that would indicate that your aerial is OK, but in the cabling to the second Freeview receiver needs a look.
At some point, you’ll be ‘splitting’ the aerial feed so that it can feed both Freeview receivers, and you’d added a weak link in the chain. This could be:
- A poor aerial splitter
- A cheap, low quality, aerial extension lead
- A long cable run (long leads create signal loss)
One fix is to make sure you use a high quality splitter and cables, but a quicker fix is often to get a signal booster.
Look for a signal booster that’s mains powered, has one input for your aerial, and two outputs – one for each Freeview receiver.
